RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT - 2005

    Right to Information Bill 2005 as passed by the two houses of the Parliament, received the assent of the President Of India on 15th June 2005, following which the Right to Information Act 2005 has been published in the Gazette of India on 21st June 2005. The Act is in force from 12th October 2005.

    As per the Act, South Central Railway has designated the following Officers (table given below) as Public Information Officers, Assistant Public Information Officers and Appellate Authorities along with their jurisdiction. For obtaining the  information (other than the information already available on the website), the concerned Public Information Officer (PIO) or the  Assistant Public Information Officer (APIO) of a particular jurisdiction may be contacted at the addresses given below. In case the person is not satisfied with the information furnished by the PIO/APIO they may address their objections/reservations to the Appellate Authority of same jurisdiction.

    Information required by any person can be obtained from the PIO/APIO after payment of prescribed fees which are as follows:

(a) for information under sub-sec.(1) of Sec.6 Rs.10/-

(b) for information under sub-sec (1) of Sec.7

    (i) Rs.2/- for each page (A4/A3 size) created or copied;

    (ii) actual charge or cost price of a copy in larger size paper;

    (iii) actual cost of samples or models;

    (iv) for inspection of records, no fees for first hour and thereafter fee of Rs.5/- for every hour or part thereof. 


c) for information under sub-sec (5) of Sec.7

    (i) Rs.50/- for information on diskette or floppy; 

    (ii) actual price fixed for information provided in printed form or Rs.2/- per page of photo copy for extracts from the publication. 

        The fees can be paid by way of Cash or by Demand Draft or by Banker-s Cheque or Indian Postal Order drawn in favour of Financial Advisor & Chief Accounts Officer, South Central Railway, Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh - 500071 when payment is made Headquarters Cash Office and in favour of Senior Divisional Finance Manager/Divisional Finance Manager when the payment is made in the Divisional Cash Office.
