Rail Development and Infrastructure in Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh, got a significant boost when Shri Rajen Gohain, Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways, dedicated several Rail infrastructure development projects and passenger facilities to the Nation at a function held today i.e.24th January, 2019 at Guntakal Railway Station.
The infra works and passenger oriented initiatives were:
·Dedication of Electrification of Guntakal-Nallapadu Section to the Nation
·Dedication of Electrification of Guntakal-Kalluru Section to the Nation
·Dedication of Double line between Gullapalyamu and Khadarpet Stations, part of Guntakal-Kalluru Doubling Project to the Nation
·Dedication of New Railway Station Building at Guntakal to the Nation
·Dedication of Free High-Speed Wi-Fi facility at Guntakal, Anantapur, Kadapa and Kurnool City Railway Stations to the Nation
·Dedication of Lift on Platform No.1 at Kadapa Railway Station (via Remote Video Link) to the Nation
Addressing the large gathering on the occasion, the Minister of State of Railways, Shri Rajen Gohain said that under the dynamic leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister and the guidance of Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Indian Railways is scaling new heights in all aspects. It is an evidence of the same that several important rail developmental initiatives have been commissioned and dedicated to the Nation today, giving a fresh momentum to rail connectivity and quality of user facilities, to benefit the people of Rayalaseema area and Andhra Pradesh in particular.
The Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways stated that, Andhra Pradesh has been receiving consistent support from the Rail Ministry in development of rail infrastructure and enhanced passenger facilities. During the year 2018-19, the budgetary allocation for rail developmental activities in Andhra Pradesh is Rs. 3,670 crore when compared to the allocation of Rs. 1,105 crore during 2014-15., Rayalaseema region plays an important role for the Rail operations connecting Southern India to Northern, Western and Eastern parts of the country. Indian Railways is making all round efforts to improve train connectivity from different parts of Rayalaseema to capital city region of Andhra Pradesh. Introduction of Tri-weekly express from Dharmavaram to Vijayawada, Extension of Machilipatnam to Tirupati express upto Dharmavaram and running of special trains from Kurnool & Raichur to Kakinada via Guntur and Vijayawada are some of the initiatives taken in this direction, Shri Rajen Gohain added.
Elaborating on the importance being accorded to Rayalaseema area by the Rail Ministry, Shri Rajen Gohain stressed that special interest has been taken in the development of Rayalaseema region in terms of rail infrastructure which will help socio-economic growth of this region. Due to the consistent efforts of this government, 145Kms new Railway lines, 23 Kms of doubling and 653Kms of electrification have been completed with a combined cost of more than Rs. 1,900 crore in the Rayalaseema region of the State. The projects commissioned during the last 4 years in Rayalaseema region include 123 Kms of Nandyal-Yerraguntla new railway line; 22Kms of new Railway line between Kadapa-Pendlimarri of Kadapa-Bengaluru new Railway line project and 90 Kms of electrification between Gooty-Dharmavaram and another 93 Kms of electrification between Guntakal - Mantralayam.
In addition, several infrastructural projects falling in Rayalaseema region costing around Rs. 6,300 crores are in fast progress. The prominent being New Railway line project between Kadapa-Bengaluru, doubling between Guntakal – Guntur & Gooty - Dharmavaram and electrification between Guntakal-Bellary, he added. He also informed that the works for setting up of Midlife Coach Rehabilitation (MLR) factory at Kurnool at a cost of around Rs. 300 crore are in fast progress which will generate direct and indirect employment to the people of this region and important Railway stations like Guntakal, Tirupati and Kurnool city of the Rayalaseema region are being upgraded with a cost of around Rs. 500crore with modern facilities and amenities.
Earlier, Shri John Thomas, Additional General Manager, SCR in his welcome address highlighted the commendable performance of South Central Railway, which has registered consistent growth in all spheres under the guidance of our Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Shri Piyush Goyal and Shri Rajen Gohain, Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways. The Zone has recorded a significant growth of 17% in originating gross earnings during the current fiscal up to December 2018, compared with the previous year.
Shri Vijay Pratap Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division, SCR proposed the Vote of Thanks. Smt. K. Aparna, Hon’ble Chairperson, Guntakal Municipality was present at the program.
100ft Monumental National Tri Colour Hoisted at Guntakal Railway Station: Coinciding with the visit of Shri Rajen Gohain, Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways, a massive 20 feet x 30 feet size Indian National Flag was hoisted on a 100 feet pole at Guntakal Railway station. Shri John Thomas, Additional General Manager, SCR and Shri Vijay Pratap Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division, SCR were also present. A huge gathering of children from various schools, rail travelers and common public joined to witness the Tri-Colour fluttering majestically, renewing the spirit of oneness and a patriotic fervor amongst all.
The details of Infrastructure development works are:
1.The electrification between Guntakal - Nallapadu including Gooty - Pendekallu section, for a distance of 426 Kmsat a cost of Rs. 432 crores. Electrification of this section will provide seamless running of trains in the busy route with enhanced punctuality for the freight and passenger services running in the Rayalaseema region without the necessity to change the locomotive.
2.The electrified existing single line section between Guntakal - Kalluru for a distance of 41 Kms at a cost of Rs. 34 crore will provide a seamless running of trains linking Bangaluru to Hyderabad, Mumbai and North India.
3.An important infrastructure project to enhance the rail connectivity for this region that has been dedicated today is the doubling of Railway line between Gullapalyamu and Khadarpet for a distance of 21 Kms, part of Guntakal - Kalluru doubling project sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 323crore. It is targeted to complete the leftover portion of the project for the distance of 19 Kms in the current year marking completion of the entire project. Doubling of this line enables reduction of running time and also enhances the section capacity to enable running of more coaching and freight trains.
4.Dedicated new Guntakal station building constructed at a cost of Rs. 20crore. This new station building is provided with state of the art facilities like new booking counters with user friendly facilities, separate waiting hall for lady passengers, provision of lifts and escalators, provision of food plaza, Jan Ahar; provision of train and coach indication boards; spacious concourse area and large circulating area; facilities for Divyangjan; and murals & painting to enhance the grandeur and aesthetics of the premises. This new station building will set a benchmark on Indian Railways.
5.As per the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s clarion call for promoting digital initiatives on pan India basis, Indian Railways is providing Wi-Fi facility in a big way at Railway stations to fulfill this promise. In this direction high speed Wi-Fi facility at 04 important Railway stations in Rayalaseema region is dedicated to the Nation, today.
6.The lift dedicated at Kadapa railway station today will help the passengers in general; and senior citizens & divyangjan in particular for easy inter-platform mobility.
