High Priority to Passenger Amenities in Andhra Pradesh an average of Rs. 76 Crores Spent Every Year


 

South Central Railway has been constantly focussing o­n improvement of passenger facilities and services at Railway stations in Andhra Pradesh region for the last five years.On an average, Rs 76 crores is spent o­n passenger amenities during the last 4 years. The expenditure incurred during current financial year from April to November 2018 is Rs 30 crores. Essential amenities areprovided at all stations which includeBooking facilities, High Level Platforms, Shelters, Drinking water arrangements, Waiting halls, Seating arrangements, Lighting and Trains Time table. Desirable Amenities which include catering & vending stalls, adequate parking and circulating area, train indication board, public address system etc. are provided based o­n the need and relative importance of the stations.

 

In addition to Retiring Rooms, Upper Class Waiting halls (combined for ladies and gents),2ndClass waiting halls (Separate for ladies), Cloak Room, Book Stalls/other essential goods, Refreshment facilities, Parking/circulating area with lighting, Washable apron with jet cleaning, Electronic Train indicator board, Touch Screen Enquiry Systems, Water Vending Machines, Water Coolers, Signages, Modular catering stalls, Automatic Ticket Vending machines, Pay & Use toilet o­n platforms and circulating area, Provision of ATM with ticketing facility are provided at all important railway stations.

Additional Desirable Amenities like Cyber Café, Food Plaza, Executive Lounge, Train coach indication system, CCTV for announcement and security purpose, Coin operated ticket vending machine, Facelift of station building including façade are provided at major stations like Vijayawada and Tirupati. A host of passenger amenities provided to the rail users in Andhra Pradesh region o­n the zone during the last 5 years are detailed below.

1.Adarsh Stations

Ø10 new stations are converted as Adarsh stations now totalling to 26 stations. The new Adarsh stations are Macherla, Adoni, Rajahmundry, o­ngole, Mantralayam Road, Nallapadu, New Guntur, Repalle, Markapur Road, Donakonda.

Ø2ndclass waiting room (with bathing facilities), Public Address System/Computer based announcement, Book stalls/other stalls of essential goods, Parking/circulatory area with lights, Water coolers, Signage Boards, Catering Stalls, Pay & Use Toilets o­n platforms & circulating area, UTS, Provision of ATMs etc are the basic amenities provided at the Adarsh stations.

2.Redevelopment of Stations

ØAt Vijayawada and Tirupati railway stations improvements were planned to Façade of the station buildings, Circulating area by engaging of reputed architects/consultants for beautification. A lighting tower for proper illumination, improved, modern, cost effective lighting arrangements at the platforms, concourse etc. Renovated water booths, Renovated, modern Pay & Use toilets, waiting and Retiring Rooms with modern furniture, passenger guidance system including signages and coach indication boards, Improvement of booking and enquiry offices have been provided.

3.Foot over Bridges (FoBs)

 

Ø13 Foot over bridges are constructed at the following locations i.e., Renigunta, Rajamundhry, Tuni, Dharmavaram, Betamcherla, Nidadavolu, Godavari, Guntakal, Krishna Canal, Rayanapadu, Nambur, Mangalagiri, Guntakal stations.

ØFoot Over Bridges are treated under safety category items and special sanction is accorded for construction of Foot over Bridges. Sanction is accorded for more than 50 FoBs in Andhra Pradesh region over the zone under special sanction.

4.Station Facades

ØMore than 10 station building facades are improved. Some of them are Kadapa, Anantapur, Dharmavaram, Guntur, Adoni, etc. In addition, to make the Stations aesthetically appealing and to reflect the local culture, Rajahmundry, Anantapur, Dharmavaram, Guntur and Kakinada Stations are beautified with exemplary art paintings and murals.

5.Platform Extension

ØExtension of10 platforms have been completed.

ØSome of the stations in which these works are completed are Anakapalle, Samalkot, Vijayawada, Nellore, Pullampet, Nakkanadoddi, Markapur Road, Nuzividu, Kurichedu and Pakala etc.

6.Lifts

Ø11 lifts have been commissioned at 8 stations.

ØRajahmundry (2), Tuni (2), Eluru (2), Anantapur, Kadapa, Chirala, Tadepallegudem and o­ngole.

ØWorks are in progress to provide 6 lifts at 4 stations.

ØIn addition, sanction for construction of 9 more lifts at 4 stations is approved under special sanction .

ØWith these facilities, now the Andhra Pradesh region under SCR jurisdiction is having a total of 26 lifts at 18 stations.

7.Escalators

Ø12 Escalators were commissioned at 8 stations

ØThey are Kurnool City(2), Nellore(2), Rajahmundry(2), Anakapalle(2), o­ngole(1), Gudur(1), Vijayawada(1), Tirupati(1).

ØWorks are in progress to provide 5 more escalators at 4 stations.

ØWith these facilities now the Andhra Pradesh region under SCR jurisdiction is having 23 escalators at 9 stations.

8.Other important passenger amenities

ØFor the benefit of Divyangjan Passengers Guntur Division has developed a foldable, movable ramp and wheel chair to board and alight the train. It is proposed to extend the same in all the trains in a phased manner.

ØDivyang friendly toilets are provided in more than 170 stations in AP region over SCR jurisdiction. Works are in fast progress to provide Such type of toilets at all stations.

Ø105 Water Vending Machines have been provided at 39 stations enabling dispensation of quality drinking water at very reasonable rates.

ØStation Booking Sewaks (STBA) have been deputed at 65 stations. They are deputed to issue tickets at stations thereby help in reducing the workload o­n ASM’s and this helps in strengthening safety.

Ø131 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) have been provided at 69 stations for quick dispensing of general tickets.

Ø28 Coin cum Card Operated Ticket Vending Machines (Co TVMs) have been provided at 22 stations.

ØYatri Ticket Suvidha Kendras (YTSK) for issuing both reserved and unreserved tickets have been provided at8 locations.

ØE- catering Facility to book food o­n trains is available in 16 trains.

ØOnline booking of Retiring rooms is available at 34 stations.

ØElectronic train indication boards are available at60 stations.

ØElectronic Coach indication boards are available at 45 stations.

ØFood plazas are available at 7 important stations.
