Improve Punctuality of Train services with due Priority to Safety Shri Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board


Shri Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board emphasized o­n improvement of Punctuality with due priority to safety by observing all precautions during the current monsoon season. He conducted a review meeting with the General Managers of Indian Railways from Railway Board, New Delhi today i.e., 19th July, 2018. Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, GM, SCR and Principal Heads of Departments participated the meeting through video conference at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.

Addressing the meeting, Shri Ashwani Lohani advised the General Managers to focus o­n observing monsoon precautions and improving safety standards with meticulous planning in train operations and track management etc. He instructed them to take all measures to avoid minor incidents of unsafe situations occurring in yards, level crossings etc. He held a detailed review o­n all the works related to elimination of unman manned level crossings across Indian Railways and instructed to focus o­n cleanliness of the stations/trains. Further he discussed o­n the issue pertaining to water logging o­n the track due to monsoon and instructed to prepare plans for the construction of additional bridges as per the geographical requirement to overcome the emergency situations. The frequent failures occurring in signalling, non-inter locking, pre-inter locking working and in attending emergency blocks etc shall be avoided, he added.

Discussions were also held o­n monitoring of all safety assets by manning with the home guards, supply of new rails, signal cables and requirement of track repair machines and recruitment/re-engagement of staff especially safety related category to fill the vacancies.
